O Fundador do Mentadorio
Mikael Martins is a martial arts instructor with a dual culture background.
French and Portuguese, currently based in Portugal (Lisbon), where he has lived since 2010. Born and raised in Paris, he discovered martial arts at a young age with one year of training in Aikido at the age of 7. He returned to the mat at the age of 17 and dedicated himself to practice for about six years, while attending various stages with masters such as Christian Tissier, Bernard Palmier, and especially the Japanese Toshiro Suga (direct student of Morihei Ueshiba, founder of Aikido), who recognized in him a rare talent for movement and learning.

Felt that training only one martial art was not enough, it needed to be completed.
Between the ages of 20 and 22, he trained in Karate with the vice-world champion (Kumite WKF) Joël Barst, before exploring more adaptive combat disciplines: Jeet Kune Do, Kali, Silat, and personal defense. He intensively trained these martial arts with David Delannoy, a certified instructor by Dan Inosanto himself (student and friend of Bruce Lee, a global reference for Jeet Kune Do). Once certified, he moved to Lisbon, making trips between France and Portugal to reinforce his practice.
He was also introduced to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, including attending a seminar with Rick Young, a black belt and world champion (Master).

In addition to his experience in martial arts, he is also a personal trainer (holder of the Professional Title of Physical Exercise Technician). He has accompanied students in customized training sessions.
Concrete experience
t was the constant contact with confrontations, threats, psychological tension, and high-risk environments, whether during adolescence in complicated high schools, street aggression, and as security in areas of high criminality, that gave him a lucid vision of the true martial reality.
The Mentadorio
More than a set of techniques, it is an approach that values body awareness, realistic effectiveness and personal development through training.
Today, Mikael Martins teaches the Mentadorio martial art in Linda-a-Velha (Oeiras, Lisbon, Portugal), offering regular classes, internships, and educational content that unites body, mind, and perception. His proposal is simple: to train functionally, progressively, and ethically, an accessible path for all who wish to strengthen themselves internally and externally.
He has been teaching in Lisbon since 2012.
